52 solid wood rods and 30 wooden connector spheres. The spheres have holes at multiple angles, so kids aren't stuck making boxes — they build forts, tunnels, tents, castles, reading nooks, and things nobody has a name for yet. Every build is different. That's the whole point.
Why wood instead of plastic
- It holds a blanket. And a kid. Hollow plastic rods flex and buckle under weight. Solid wood doesn't.
- Big pieces. 20cm rods and large spheres — nobody steps on these in the dark, and they scoop back into the cotton bag in one go.
- It doesn't get boring in a week. No instructions to finish, no "right" answer, no completed state. Open-ended by design.
Before you buy: the trick to the first build
We'd rather tell you this up front than have you find out.
The connectors are a firm fit out of the box. That's deliberate — a loose joint is a fort that falls down — but there's a technique to it, and nobody guesses it first time.
Push the rod straight in while rotating it, like driving a screw. The rotation lets the wood find its way into the hole instead of jamming against it, and the rod seats far more easily than by pushing alone. What you want to avoid is levering the rod sideways once it's part-way in — that's what stresses the wood.
On the very first build an adult usually helps. After you've assembled and taken it apart two or three times, the fit eases to exactly where it should be and kids build unaided. If a rod ever starts to feel loose over time, the kit includes small plastic sleeves that snug it back up.

Ages
Marked 4+. In practice it lands best with 5 to 10 year olds. Four-year-olds love it but will want an adult on the first few builds. Older kids and siblings building together is where it really works — two children fit inside comfortably.
